Carpenter Bee Control in the Area
Often mistaken for bumble bees, carpenter bees are commonly found in Spring and early Summer, buzzing around eaves and around wooden porch railings. Getting their name from their habit of boring holes into wood to create nests for reproduction. Carpenter bees are known to cause substantial damage to untreated wood, especially if the insects go unchecked for long periods of time. Contact us today for expert bee control services!
How Can I Tell If I Have Carpenter Bees?
Carpenter bees are often confused with bumble bees because they are similar in color and size, as they can grow in length from ½ an inch to 1 ½ inches in length. Unlike bumble bees, their belly is black and shiny.
Signs of a carpenter bee infestation are:
- Holes about ½ of an inch in diameter in wood that is unfinished or bare.
- Sawdust on the ground underneath the bored holes
If this sounds similar to what you’re seeing on your property, it’s time to give the pros a call. Our trusted team at BOG Pest Control is happy to help eliminate carpenter bees in your home!
What Are the Dangers of Carpenter Bees?
Typically, carpenter bees are not aggressive and there isn’t a high risk of stinging unless they are threatened. The real danger carpenter bees can cause is repeat damage to your home if left untreated. Additionally, other problematic and destructive pests, like carpenter ants, can invade holes bored by carpenter bees, causing additional structural harm. It often is difficult to discern carpenter bees from bumble bees. If you believe carpenter bees have invaded your home, you should contact the team at BOG Pest Control to positively identify the species and treat for the insects accordingly. Our treatments will give you peace of mind that your home is safe from these destructive pests!
